FREQUENTLY Asked questions (faq)
What can I expect during the first therapy session?
Your intake session will involve a thorough conversation about your background, current concerns, and goals for therapy. We’ll begin building a plan tailored to your needs.
How long does therapy last?
The length of therapy depends on many factors, including your goals, the severity and duration of your symptoms, your readiness to engage in the work, and the type of therapeutic approach used. Some clients attend for a few months to address specific challenges, while others benefit from longer-term support to work through deeper patterns, trauma, or life transitions. Approaches like IFS (parts work) and Brainspotting can accelerate insight and emotional processing.
What should I expect to pay for therapy? Do you take insurance?
I am in network with the following insurances:
BCBS
Aetna
UHC
UMR
Molina
Midland’s Choice-pending
Here’s what you can expect if you’re paying out of pocket:
$175 – 53-minute therapy session
$250 – Initial intake evaluation
What is Brainspotting?
Brainspotting is a powerful, brain-based therapy approach that helps your process and heal from trauma, emotional distress, and deeply held patterns. It works by identifying specific “brainspots”— eye positions linked to where your brain is holding unprocessed emotional or physical pain. By focusing on these spots while staying attuned to your inner experience, your brain and body can access and release stuck material in a way that feels natural and often deeper than traditional talk therapy.
Unlike talk therapy, which primarily engages the thinking brain, Brainspotting accesses the subcortical part of the brain—where trauma, emotions, and survival responses are stored. Many people find Brainspotting helps them move through trauma, anxiety, or blocks more quickly. It can be especially helpful for those who feel “stuck,” overwhelmed, or disconnected from their emotions.
